      Chatham lost an aged and respected citizen in the death early Monday morning January 27, 1947 of James A. Dower who passed away at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Currie, Lower Water St. with whom he had resided.
      He was in his 85th year and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He suffered a seizure Sunday night following a period of failing health.
      Mr. Dower has been an excellent Filer, an expert at various Mills on the Marimichi and was associated with the J. B. Snowball Co. Ltd. mill for many years.
      He is survived bt two sons: James, in Mexico, Maine and Walter, in Poland Springs, Maine. Two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Currie and Mrs. Albert Briggs, both of Chatham. His wife, the former Mary Fraser, Chatham, died seven years ago.
      The funeral was held Wednesday afterneen January 29th conducted at the house by Rev. F. E. MacPherson of the United Church assisted by the choir singing "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Does Jesus Care".
      The Pall Bearers were Harry Frost, William Lockhart, Joseph Dickison, Ben Morris, Martin Flanigan and George Harris.
      Interment was in Riverside Cemetery.
